Well yesterdav arvo I had an awesome idead to do some night adventuring... The plan was to go down to Audley just before high tide (8pm), paddle south as far as I could then ascend the ridge to the west and hook up with Uloola Track (near the falls). Then run back to Audley on the bottom track, cross the bridge, run down Lady Carrington, test my O-skills by having to find an attack point for the kayak in the dark and finally paddle back home. 20k, 3 hours easy. So I got ready and headed out. It was a hard descision to go because the warm bed and a movie was the other option. As I headed down to Audley I put the radio on. I am not shitting you when I say that the two songs that played were "Dont Be So Reckless" and "Im Still Lost And Running"... I actually chuckled to myself on the way down the hill. When I got to Audley I realised that all the gates were locked and I could not get near a good launching point. I looked around a bit and *could* have launched into the reeds but it was muddy and smelly. After much pondering I decided to just go for a run. Wildlide was everywhere (I nearly ran over a small something-or-other on the way down) and the birds were making a racket so I stuck my headphones in so as to ignore it all. I love wildlife but only as long as it doesnt see me. I started the run on the tar immediately felt cold. Damn it was cold. I since learnt that it got down to 4.2 overnight. "Ahhh bugger it, Ive been colder" I thought as I hooked on to the singletrack and started towards the ascent. The good song came on the pod and I started getting into a good rythym. "Oh yeah, this rocks" "WWWWWAAAAHHHHHHHYYAAY FFFUGGGGNNNN" A mother-f*cking wallaby left out of the bushes. I scared him, he scared me. We both freaked out. I think Mim heard me yelling from Engadine. People say "dont worry about animals, they are more scared of you than you are of them." That is EXACTLY what I am afraid of; when I am scared I am likely to do some crazy shit to get out of that situation. Who knows what the hell a wallably might do!! Anyway, I ran back to the car and drove home. I didnt put the radio on. c.

Team FWT (dont ask) came 2nd in the Red Yet 36 hour race on the weekend. A full race report is underway. This was an awesome even over some beautiful country. Apart from getting attacked by killer bees, stingrays and sleepmonsters... we had an excellent race! We were delighted with our placing as well!
