GOD, SPEED YOUR LOVE TO... AFRICA

From www.atu2.com:

And they're underway in London. Paul McCartney joins U2 on stage to sing "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," the first time Bono and Macca have sung together since the Live Aid finale 20 years ago and the first time the song has ever been performed live. Then it's "Beautiful Day," with Bono changing the lyrics to mention all the cities hosting Live 8 shows and adding a bit of "Blackbird" at the end. Oh, and let's not forget that white doves are released, too. Beautiful day, indeed. Next is "Vertigo" -- "just give us what we want, give us what we want!" Bono encourages the G8 leaders to "make history by making poverty history" before U2 launches into "One," which includes the "Hear us coming, Lord" coda along with "Unchained Melody" at the end. Bono prays, "God, speed your love to... Africa." And we say, "Amen."

Update: You can purchase the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Bandicon collaboration on iTunes. Proceeds benefit Live 8.

Dude, your sources are inaccurate. Sergeant Peppers has been performed live by Macca every night of his last tours and he has been playing it live since his 1989/1990 world tour. Even so, the first time the song was performed live was in 1967, when Jimi Hendrix played the song in a London performance, only a few days after the album had been released, much to McCartney's appreciation, who was in the audience that night.

Just thought I'd set the record straight :-)
