What an epic day! Simon, Rowan, Adam and myself headed up to wise-os for some biking. 1 hour into the ride and halfway up a climb a pin in my rear derailleur dislodged and sent the chain into the spokes. This caused one of the sprockets to snap in half... I wasnt going anywhere... We managed to get the chain spinning again using pliers, wire and a saw... It lasted about 10 km and then the derailleur was back in the spokes again. This time i did a good job of it and after 30 mins of engineering i had a single speed. Unfortuneately the chain still jumped so i ran a large part of the 15 km home... The most appalling events of the ride were to happen on the 3km flat tar section of road leading back to the ferry... Rowan and i were riding together when he called "car". I was moving over when the black BMW swerved at us and sped off. What a prick. What was worse was that he found simon about 1km up the road and collected him with the side mirror! Simon is fine and unhurt. The mirror came completely off but somehow Simon managed to stay upright... Epic epic day!
