The first images transmitted from the Cassini spacecraft during its orbit of Saturn are shown during a news conference at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California July 1, 2004. The image shows the sunlit side of Saturn's rings. Hours after it completed a journey of nearly seven years to Saturn, the spacecraft Cassini sent its first pictures back to Earth, showing sharp edges and ripples of energy in the planet's enormous rings.
