AROC Night Adventure - 11 February, Sydney

Team Goanna (graeme, Brendan and myself) did the AROC Night Adventure Race at Homebush on Saturday Night. Was a pretty good event and our goal of a top 10 finish was met. We came 8th overall and 5th in out class. We finished in 3hrs 15mins (about 25 mins behind the winners). No complaints about the race at all but we did make about 11 minutes of mistakes, which may have seen us get a podium finish... Oh well... next time.
Next event is a two day (short events) bike orienteering event in two weeks followed by another 2 day bike orienteering event (10th Nalgene Polaris), a 24 hour adventure race and then the AROC championships... then I have a weekend off!

Here is a brief report from the website:

With over 400 participants this event was the biggest thing to hit Sydney Olympic Park since the Olympics. Fugahwe, a mixed team, had a ripper of a race breaking the domination of the all male teams coming first overall. Not far behind Mirage TerraX who, after 3 years of trying, finally cracked it to win the all male category and second overall. One of the biggest results since the beginning of AROC was by the Betty Allstars who came in 3rd overall and 2nd in the male. It really was a fantastic result and you should look out for them in the future! Team Millie Too and Awesome Bruce filled second and third places in the mixed category. We love Dave Osmond too were 3rd in the Male. First in the all female category and 10th overall was Control Freaks with Three Mad Mums 2nd and Kiwi Chucks 3rd. The race had a couple of surprises with the Mountain X bike track and the aquatic centre slide, flume and inflatable monster as part of the course. A few teams enjoyed this section so much they stopped to do repeats of the water slide and relax in the spa. The finish line at the Homebush Bay Brewery was hugely popular as people swapped their powerbars and sports drinks for a few cold beverages. For full results <>.
